How do I get there?
We are attempting to organize carpools from Los Angeles, if you’re driving out and have room in your car or need a ride, please reach out over Instagram or by email: mx.flow1312@proton.me. Busses go to Brawley regularly, infrequent bus stops in Niland. Slab City is a 30-60 minute walk from Niland with easy hitching! 4 Hour drive from Los Angeles, mostly highways, no off-roading required. Freight train yard nearby but very hard to hitch in from, easier to hop out (although a bus to Yuma is easier if you’re train riding anyway). Significant bike tour doable for the fit and experienced.
ONE BORDER CHECKPOINT ON THE WAY OUT. No checkpoint going in. They are not criminal police and do not run background or warrant checks, most people are waved through and there are other events in the area happening at the same time. It is normal for there to be elevated traffic this time of year, this weekend in particular. Still, if you’re lacking citizenship, serious caution is advised. Only bring sketchy goods that you plan to consume or leave behind.
Where can I stay?
- There is free tent camping within the fence line of Camp Dankside, we have an outhouse and a water tank for the event. Cars/RVs/busses/etc. must be parked outside the fence line.
- Skatepark is a common camp-spot if you want to camp beside your car, lots of other people camp there and it’s a safe spot, check out the BMX jam!
- If you have an RV or Bus, The Swamp is a fairly open and quiet area that is easy to pull into and setup camp alone.
- California Ponderosa, Mojo’s Camp and Hostel offer paid campsites with more comfort than a tent
- The nearest hotel is in Calipatria
What should I bring?
- Water, food, both warm and cold clothing options
- A comfortable thing to sleep on, a good tent or a setup car is a solid choice
- Donations for the party! Firewood, drinks, party favors, kandi, zines, and anything else you can think of!
- A sense of love and acceptance for all beings
Can I setup my tank/table/bags/etc and vend?
- NO SALES ARE ALLOWED AT THIS EVENT. IF YOU ARE FOUND SELLING ANYTHING, YOU WILL BE FORCED TO EITHER TURN OVER ALL YOUR GOODS TO BE GIVEN FREELY OR ESCORTED OUT OF THE PARTY. You cannot stay and keep your goods if you are found selling.
- This is a free party, no sales, no merchants, no price tags, no assumed donations, no barter. Give or don’t give, but selling and trade is prohibited. You do not have to give everyone your drugs, but you can’t sell them either.
Where can I get food, water, and other supplies?
- Food, water and soda will be provided at the party. Please bring your own water bottle and eating utensils if able.
- Within slabs the Care Club does regular free food. California Ponderosa sells alcohol. Coffee is served every morning at Oasis Club. Wrangler’s Roost has burgers and icecream.
- The nearest town, Niland, has a small market and a gas station store with very expensive gas.
- The nearest Walmart is Brawley, 30-40 minutes to the south. There is a Walmart on the way from LA in Indio.
- Calipatria has a donut shop that sells pizza, burritos, donuts and coffee. Calipatria has the cheapest gas if you need to fill up.
- There is a natural clothing optional hotspring on the way into slabs, before you get to the mountain. Near the shack that sells t-shirts. Bring a clean gallon of water and float it in the spring to get a nice hot water rinse when you’re doing soaking.
